Fate/DEKU

#mywork #threadsave

Midoriya Izuku grows up without a quirk but it's not the end all, be all for him because he has Magecraft and, despite his father's misgivings, Izuku knows he can be a hero. He's smart & resourceful and has a large number of circuits at his disposal that, Izuku hopes, can offset the fact that he doesn't have a quirk.

Instead, he has at hi advantage an absurd number of natural magic circuits. Sure, he doesnt have the Akatani Family Crest (Inko as the second daughter, did not receive it) and the Midoriya Crest is only 3 generations long (including him) but his natural ability on it's own eclipses the circuit count of a number of long standing families. Izuku grows up pretty much flipping between hero analysis and mage training, to the point where, even as a MS student, he was on par with first year students at the Clocktower in terms of skill and knowledge. His Orgin "Come Out" allows him to devise ways to recreate the world around him, including quirks (being able to actually recreate them is much harder), and the more he interacts with the world, the better and more feasible his ideas are.

(He has so many burned clothes trying to recreate Kacchan's explosions, until he came to the thought that the easiest way to have access to Kacchan's explosions is to stay close to Kacchan. Katsuki would rather if the nerd didn't follow him to the rest room so gd often but deals)

Backstory time! Akatani Inko has less than avg circuits + affinity for wind despite her family having Void and so she's disowned, with very little money and even less understanding on how the modern world works as she was so used to mage craft. Mitsuki finds her, befriends her, & brings her home. They're maybe ms or early hs when this happens. Inko doesn't do much with magecraft until they're in uni and Mitsuki asks for help cursing her designs because someone keeps stealing them.

That's how they meet Masaru and Hisashi - Masaru is a huge fan of Mitsuki and enlists Hisashi, his best friend and a better mage, to try and use magic to find out who's stealing the designs. They hit it off rather quickly and the rest is pretty much history.

Because Mitsuki thinks of Inko as a younger sister (despite inko being 2-3 yrs older) the Bakugous and Midoriyas are rather close knit, esp since they seem to be the only two mage families in Musutafu

(Katsuki has slightly above avg circuits, fire affinity, but not the family code because his body rejected it at a young age.

"Give it to Deku," he says at 6yrs old, laid up in the hospital with a bs excuse to the doctors. "He's gonna need all the fucking help he can get if he wants to even get in the top 10 when im #1 hero". So yeah Deku has a combined BKG+Mido Crest on his back. Katsuki is a 2nd gen mage but is kinda meh about it overall)

Izuku is ridiculed for being quirkless but not as badly since Katsuki often glares them into submission, and Izuku doesn't really care because he's too busy messing around with Projection and Reinforcement instead (it takes all the fun out of it).

The plan for these two dweebs is to become a hero duo, Katsuki as the frontman, Izuku as Katsuki's support, combining magecraft, tech, and quirks.

Katsuki and Izuku never have a falling out (parents being practically siblings help), he never tells Izuku to take a swan dive (except when they were 11 and izuku attempts to copy Hawks with gradatian air magecraft and Katsuki encourages. It... ends poorly and they're both grounded for 3 months. "But I caught the nerd!")

They never walk down that underpass, the sludge villain never escapes, they never meet All Might. He gets to his meeting almost on time and meets Mirio but... Mirio says he doesn't want OFA but he is /very/ interested to help find the new successor. Nighteye... regrets introducing the two. So, fucking. Much. They are two gd similar.

Katsuki expects Izuku to go into the Support department. TBH Izuku expects to go into the support department (he made mystic code bracelets that Katsuki always wears around his wrists, that tap into something that Izuku created that is a mix of Reality Marble and Imaginary Number space, to infinitely store sweat. They work with the huge gauntlets Katsuki had made when he gets to UA) cause he loves creation! But... well... He wants to be hands on too, not just stuck in a magic lab like his dad

So he applies to the heroics program.

Katsuki laughs in his face when Izuku tells him. The blonde knows Izuku isn't a weakling - he's strong magically, he's fast, and unlike other mages they've met outside their family, Izuku knows the value of tech and quirks. Izuku has trained with him, and while he's not as bulky, he knows there's muscle underneath his nerdy persona but...

The third question on the entrance papers was what their quirk was and Izuku can't lie and say his magecraft is magic. They tried, when they were really young and stupid. Someone from the Association came and there was a big fight but Katsuki doesn't remember the specifics. Just that there was a lot of yelling, the magus< wanted to take Deku away, more yelling and finally Uncle Hisashi leaving with him for England. Since then, he hasn't been back in Japan but he contacts them often - emails when he can but more commonly snailmail and packages from around the world.

It's their first big fight ever - Katsuki trying to convince Izuku to just apply for support, hell maybe even management because they're kept out of the limelight which is fucking good since the Assoc. cant be on his ass and Izuku saying he wants to try at least.

They don't talk for almost a month and the day before the exam, Katsuki shows up at the Midoriya apartment and hands Izuku his mystic code. "Not like I can use them in my exam but you've been given the okay to being some items right? Use these."

It's the closest to an apology and I believe in you, all in one. Izuku takes them to the exam, along with two other items, a rope he's Reinforced a lot to mimic telekinesis, and one of his own personal mystic codes - a pair of glasses that help quicken his ability to Reinforce his body as well as acts as heat vision which doesnf help with fighting robots but it allows Izuku to know how far away other students are (of course he doesnt mention what the glasses do, they're correctional!)

The written exam is a breeze. The physical exam... not so much. Izuku doesnt freeze when Mic lets then loose, but he honestly isnt equipped to fight robots. He's helped people (er one time he did a controlled blast to get them out of harm's way. Well more harms way) but took down 0 robots.

Time ticks down and the 0pt appears. Ochako gets trapped. Even though they havent met yet, Izuku can't just leave her to get hurt. So he runs past Iida and tries to lift the slab off of her. He uses magecraft to help strengthen his body and get it off of her. They're not getting away in time so Izuku copies Kacchan's move to try and blast them away... the same Uraraka cancels their gravity. This is a great combo... if both parties are expecting it.

The Ura-Deku duo launch themselves into a wall, probably sporting a concussion and scuffs but not squished by a giant robot. Izuku calls that a win right up until he realizes he still has 0 points.

I'll continue tomorrow but two questions if you're reading this! Who should get OFA? Should Deku still be in 1A?

:D

No I uh... legit have questions I would like answered Rolling on the floor laughing Guess quick poll while I get ready / get to work cause I cant write for a bit: Deku goes to 1A > 72.7% Deku goes to Support > 18.2% Deku goes to GenEd > 9.1% 11 votes · Final results

For obvious reasons, Izuku is hella depressed because there is no way he made it in without destroying a robot. Katsuki sighs as he walks Izuku home, bracelets back around his wrists.

"It ain't the end all Deku - you'll be your own kind of hero."

It's quiet for the next two weeks since Deku didn't really experiment. He still joined Katsuki on jogs around town but his heart wasn't into it.

And then the letter came and Present Mic tells Izuku that U.A. will be his hero school. Izuku is fucking bawling which makes Inko start to cry, although when she sees that he got accepted, she's happy too. Then it's calls to Hisashi (distracted but glad for Izuku's accomplishment, his son can distorted foreign yelling in the background) and then a call to the Bakugou's. Everyone is ecstatic and they have a celebratory dinner in town that ends when a fight crashes into the restaurant they're at. It's not a bust because /All Might/ comes in and saves the day, gone too quick for the kids to ask questions or get an autograph. On the families' way home, Izuku grabs Katsuki's arm to stop him.

"Hey Kacchan, can you come over to my house tomorrow? Mama isn't going to be home and I need some help."

Innocent enough right? But remember, this is Katsuki he's speaking to, Katsuki who sees very few people as people, Katsuki who has positive feelings towards Deku that may or may not be love. Of course he says yes, he'll be there a bit after school, thoughts of heavy "thank fuck we are going in the same class again" makeouts" in mind.

And Katsuki is there, less than an hour after their classes end, showered, changed, and with condoms and lube hidden in his pocket. Just in case.

Instead, Katsuki opens up to the Midoriya apt to see lots of paper and bolts of fabric all over the place, a teary eyed nerd hunched over a sewing machine, muttering to himself. Katsuki closes the door and clears his throat to get the nerd's attention.

"Kacchan is here!" Izuku starts talking quickly. "I didn't actually expect to get into the heroics class and then I saw the note about uniforms and I never actually /considered/ what I would wear as a hero and I cant just let someone else make it for me and Kacchan is much better at designing than me so I was hoping for some help?"

Katsuki sighs (there goes his daydreams of sloppy makeouts) and starts gathering up the random designs. "All right nerd, this is what we're gonna do-"

/...\

The first day of class, Izuku and Katsuki take an early train towards U.A. and walk into 1A in companionable silence (or as close as silent as it can be with Deku muttering about the heroes who had graced the halls in the past). Iida still calls Katsuki out for having his feet on the desk, Ochako is still excited to see the "plain looking kid!" is in her class, but can't talk because their sensei walks in, instructs them to change into their gym uniforms and meet him in the field. "And Midoriya," he adds before leaving, "you cannot bring any support items with you."

Izuku pouts but zips everything into his bag except the glasses (because he still has registered that mystic code with anyone other than Kacchan).

The quirk apprehension test goes... well... it goes. Izuku subtly reinforces his body, gives himself an extra boost in the tests and does okay. He's never the top scorer, but he's never the absolute worse either.

Still the results show that Izuku is dead last, 20/20. Izuku visibly wilts, sure that he's going to get kicked out. Katsuki's hands are sparking and he's geared up to yell when "It's a logical ruse." A number of students blink in shock. "It makes no sense to drop you unless you show no potential. Speaking of-" the overall results show into smaller results for each of the 8 events. Aizawa clicks on the remote, and Izuku's name immediately lights up for each test. Like Izuku thought, he was often within 8th and 15th in the class for every event other than the long jump. "We'll be using Midoriya as a bench mark of what you should be able to accomplish, seeing as he has no quirk to use to assist. For those of you who did very poorly in all but one or two tests," Aizawa looks at where Mineta and Hagakure are standing, "you might want to consider what is needed to be a hero. Your quirk will not be the answer to every question and you have to have the ability to work with out it, plus ultra." Then he dismisses them all with instructions to go back to the classroom to get their syllabi and then head home. "Midoriya, a word first?"

Everyone walks away (except Kacchan, because of course he wouldnt leave th nerd alone, and Ochako, who still wanted to talk) as Izuku turns to his sensei. "Yes sir?"

"I apologize for singling you out twice, but I wanted to see what you can do on your own, without the gear." Izuku nods in understanding, "And I also wanted to show your classmates that even without quirks or fancy tools, people can achieve great feats."

Izuku flushes looking away, but something Aizawa says clicks. "Omfg you're Eraserhead!"

Aizawa is so exasperated because how??? The fuck??? Izuku starts fanboying.

(Katsuki is snickering behind the wall. Ochako is smiling because wow, Deku is so excited!)

Katsuki pulls Izuku away eventually, and they get to meet Ochako for real. The trio are surprised to see everyone is still there, waiting for them - or rather Izuku.

Everyone is... very surprised that he's quirkless. "Your the first grown person without a quirk ive met kero" and "You got in through the exam without a quirk, how manly!" and a couple of derisive comments about how he probably got lucky. Those last comments get both Ochako and Katsuki mad (they become something like friends quickly over motherhenning Deku), but it's Tenya who shuts it down.

"MIDORIYA IS THE EPITOME OF HEROIC!" he details what happened during the exam from his POV, causing both Ochako and Izuku flush scarlet (Katsuki is both exasperated and wondering about the logistics, he is definitely going to play with zero-g explosions).

Some students are wary, most noticeably Todoroki and Mineta, but most are curious because... being quirkless is hella rare (stats say that 20% of the pop has no quirks but almost 98% of those people are older than their parents in Jpn).

When they eventually leave, it's a bit later than expected but Deku feels good about everything. It gets even Better the next day when they have their first foundational heroics class and find out ALL MIGHT IS THEIR TRACHER HOLY SHIT

(aizawa if you let them go to the entrance ceremony they wouldnt have been so gd surprised).

Everyone is so excited for the battle trial. Bakugou and Midoriya were really hoping to be paired together but they can deal. While waiting for All Might to choose who's going first, BakuIiUraDeku talk about their outfits.

BK: "Wow, here I was thinking you were gonna have the plainest outfit, but I stand corrected."

Mido pouts but doesnt argue because they ended up in something like thr chaldea artic region uniform in green, black and orange accents (to directly contrast Katsuki lol) and a hoodie with his face mask.

Uraraka: "I dunno I like it better than what I got - it's tighter than I imagined."

Then theres talks about the pros and cons of tight fit or loose until AM cleared his throat to get everyone's attention.

First up was hero team IiBaku vs TokoAsui. It ends as a decisive victory for the heroes.

Villains TodoShouji literally iced out heroes KamiJirou, Todoroki creating a huge glacier around his team the moment All Might says go and the heroes cant chip away in time.

Then it's villain UraDeku vs heroes OjiHaga. Deku has plans though.

They set up traps inside their building and Izuku writes things behind doors and stuff before setting Uraraka and the bomb on the top floor. Then he hands her a seal and explains - if the hero team makes it up here and she thinks she cant defend it, she has to just scratch at the seal and she and the bomb will get teleported to one of the other rooms he wrote in (Izuku dosen't explain that he's just funneling the two through imaginary number space because that would take too long).

Izuku, in the mean time, will find Hagakure and take her out. Ochako isn't positive how it works - what kind of tech let's you teleport and how can she get her hands on it!? - but agrees just as AM says they can start. Izuku assumes (correctly) that Hagakure will try to find where they are by going stealthy. Unfortunately, Izuku has heat vision glasses and while Hagakure doesnt produce anywhere near as much heat as a magus doing basic spells he finds and defeats her in short order, tying her up in capture tape after giving her a space blanket he has in his pockets. Izuku comments on how there has to be a way to create an actual outfit for her that can go invisible top because no armor can be a death sentence esp if allies cant see her. Hagakure complains to Ojiro in the coms about where Izuku is taking her and All Might really should reprimand her becaus shes captured and IRL she would have had coms taken away if the villains are halfway competent.

Instead he let's it go and with maybe a minute on the clock Ojiro finds himself at the top level with the OchaDeku duo between him and his ally and the bomb.

Izuku goes for the offense, leaving Ochako to defend the bomb, keep Hagakure in her sights (made simpler because Deku had Water soluble paint on him) and assist by lobbing debris and stuff at the combatants. Izuku isnt the best martial artist although he comments during the fight on the styles Ojiro uses, much to the other prospective hero's surprise. Izuku, like most mages, has some martial arts training (preferring naginatajutsu, liking the reach it gives him because he's tiny lol), enough that with magecraft he can keep up with Ojiro. The battle ends with the villains winning because they kept hold of the bomb for the full time period.

While they're cleaning up, Izuku makes sure to get the seal back and goes to the rooms he marked to erase his equations.

All Might has questions about what he heard...

Overall it is a good exercise and no one was seriously injured other than some scrapes and bruises.

The next day, Bakugou and Midoriya are bombarded by the press re: AM, which nearly gives Izuku a panic attack if the teachers didnt pull them into U.A.

They still choose class rep's. Momo gets it but theres a two way tie between Midoriya and Bakugou

"Why do I have two votes?? I didn't vote for myself???"

Izuku tries to bow out but he gets yelled out. Momo says that they should just vote on the two possibilities by hands and Izuku is blown away by how many people would rather him than Katsuki as the vice rep. After the debacle in the lunch room with the reporters though, no one said no to vice rep Iida so that's one thing off his list (although Izuku is super upset when he finds out his two votes came from Kacchan and Iida. He doesnt want that he's way too busy training both body and magecraft).

The next day Izuku wakes up to see Crest seals on his right hand.

He, rightfully, freaks the fuck out which makes Inko run into his room. ...and freaks the fuck out.

Izuku can't not go to school - he has a field trip! So he finds some seals to help hide the marks (he's paranoid, he knows they can't be seen unless he forces mana into it but better paranoid then dead), wraps sports tape over them to hide, and heads to school. Katsuki gives the bandaged arm, but doesn't comment. The day goes smoothly, and then they're told to get into their hero gear and are bused to USJ. Already there is Thirteen, a senpai who introduces himself as Lemillion and All Might! They were going to be doing training with their quirks only for them to be interrupted by the sudden appearance of villains. All Might and Aizawa head into the main plaza to take out the majority of them, as Thirteen and Lemillion try to usher the first years out of harm's way.

That works all of 5 seconds before Kurogiri warps himself in front of the doors. Bakugou and Kirishima go for an attack, and Izuku screams as his best friend is warped away. Before he can do anything else, he and several of his classmates are warped away as well. Izuku finds himself in the Conflagration Zone with Ojiro and, he finds out, Hagakure. The villains dont expect two people trained to fight and an invisible interloper to take them down, but it's taking too long. Izuku is too worried, about Kacchan and sensei, and /All Might/ who the villains say they're able to kill.

Izuku has an ace up his sleeve (er on his hand) that could turn the tide. Without even thinking of the consequences, Izuku takes out his notebook and starts drawing the summoning circle. He ignores Hagakure's questions as they make their way back to their teachers at the center plaza, muttering the aria to summonunder his breath, hoping that will work...

Now then, who should Izuku summon! (I hate you all HOW. Also late cause YoBkDkUpside-down face)

There's a cackle of electricity, he can feel prana prickle against his skin, and then there's a drain in the magic in his body, concentrated around the back of his right hand where his command seals rest.

He sees Ojiro gape at the person he summoned- a female in a billowing white gown, about 5 or 6 cm taller than Izuku himself, light pink hair and a golden horn on the center of her forehead. She tilts her head towards Izuku, "are you my master?"

He nods his head, "yes, and I have a favor to ask you - would you help us out?"

His Servant nods her head and holds her hand out, allowing a wicked looking blade, longer than she was tall to materialize. "As My Master wishes," she says quietly with a nod.

"Midoriya, what the /hell/?" Hagakure hisses, making the magus jump.

His Servant instantly goes on the attack pointing her sword - is she a Saber then? - towards where Hagakure was likely standing, causing the teen in squeak in fear. Izuku is very quick to put himself between the Servant and the student. "No! Hagakure-san is a classmate, an ally!"

"...an ally who we cannot see, like an Assassin." his Servant says in the same monotone she's said everything else.

"Yes! Trust me, I will point out who out enemies are, but these two - and the rest of my classmates - are okay!"

Saber looks at her master for a few more moments before nodding in understanding. "Ally, do not attack."

Then she turned on her (very cute) heels and pointed towards the center plaza. "Enemy there?"

"Uh yeah, I don't know how many, but they're fighting sensei and All Might and-"

"I know All Might, I will not attack." And with that Sabert runs off, towards the plaza.

Ojiro stares after her. "Seripusly Mirdoriya what the hell?"

Izuku laughs, just on this side of hysterical, "yeah I'll try to explain later we should uh... follow after her?"

He's pretty sure they're both giving him incredulous looks but there's no time for an interrogation. By the time they make it to the center, there's a mass of knocked out villains, Aizawa-sensei has a silver haired villain in his capture scarf and All Might and his Servant are fighting a grotesque creature with an exposed brain.

Aizawa doesn't even spare them a look, "what are you doing here?"

"The mist villain warped us to the ruins sensei!" Hagakure starts, "we beat up the villains there and than Midoriya did something and that lady came to help us!"

There's a very long silence and then sensei sighs. "Well for now, stick to the side lines and stay out of the line of fire."

The students do as they're told, for a bit anyways, only for everything to go to hell with the reemergence of Kurogiri. His momentary distraction was enough for Tomura to get away. His crazed grin when he looks at the students sends a shiver down Izuku's spine. "Which of you NPCs are the Master? Can't believe a magus would deign themselves to be a 'Hero', shouldn't you be holed up in your times trying to find the Root?"

They couldn't see his grin beneath the hands but it's audible in his voice. "Guess I'll have to root them out myself then."

Izuku watches as his hand glowed - as did the hands clutched around his body, signifying command seals being activated. "Come on out Servant!"

The mana in the air charges, and Izuku can see a form coalescing into something solid behind the man. It's short though heavily armored, a helmet obscuring its features. "You're about to have a bad time~"

The figure hardly has time before the villain points towards the students; the Servant wastes no time and comes at them faster than Izuku can really track, sword at the ready. But then Saber is in front of them, blocking thr attack with ease.

"You may not touch my Master," she intones. The orb in the middle of her sword breaks apart and electricity flows through it into Berserker's body. Izuku can feel the drain of his mana but considering the destruction that's left in the attack's wake he assumes it's not a full Noble Phantasm. It is plenty enough to get the armored Swrvant to back away, a low growl of annoyance coming from beneath the helm. Izuku realizes that, unlike his own Servant, he can't see any information on Berserker's stats, just question Mark's filling his vision like the miasma of hatred Berserker emits around itself. That alone fills him with dread, especially when the villain huffs as well. "Ha, guess your Servant can use mana to keep up with mine. No matter, let's see if her B rated Endurance can hold up to this - Berserker, attack that Servant directly!" A seal on one of his hands dissipates as Berserker goes on the offence and throws their sword at Saber. Izuku's servant dodges but finds herself having to pary an onslaught of punches, kicks and attempts to stab with those armored claws. Izuku can feel the mana drain before he watches Saber's sword open again to unload another torrent of electricity.

Izuku can't take his eyes off the enemy Master and their Servants but he hears more students come - he hears Kacchan which is the most important. They can surely help All Might with the creature, probably some sort of bastardized homunculus, while he deals with this.

Berserker can take a hit but Saber is able to reinforce herself somehow so when his Servant is able to back up a few steps, Izuku calls out, "attack the villain!" Saber nods her head minutely and charges towards the hand villain, who yelps and calls for "Noumu". The huge hulking creature takes Saber's attack head on but Izuku doesn't know what happens next because the pull is too much and he falls unconscious.

/.../

"He doesn't need a fucking hospital, he just needs to get some energy in him!"

"Are you a medical professional? No? Then maybe have Recovery Girl come over and give him a kiss!"

"Racoon Eyes are you listening to yourself? That would make it /worse/. He's not fucking physically hurt! And you!" There's a pause. "Why don't you just go back into Spiritual Form!"

"...You are not my Master."

There's a strangled yell that Izuku recognizes, a yell that says he should get up now. Izuku blinks his eyes, and groans as he's assaulted by bright lights and thr smell of something like burning ozone.

"Deku, what the fuck."

"Hey Kacchan, what did I miss?"

With a sigh, Katsuki recounts what has happened; how his Servant released a torrent of electricity, absolutely frying the creature the villains brought with them, before disappearing via the warper when the rest of the teachers appeared. "And now I'm trying to keep the extras from bringing Recovery Girl here to 'heal' you."

That makes sense. Ashido pops up from behind Katsuki. "Midori! You're okay!"

"Yeaaah I'm okay." Mostly. He tries to push himself up, only to find Saber's surprisingly small hands assisting him.

"Aaand who's this~ She doesn't look like a villain."

Izuku looks over at his Servant, not knowing how to explain, or even what to call her other than, "Saber. And she was helping us."

Mina blinks before looking at Saber. "Well, thanks for the assist - I heard from sensei that if you didn't show up it might have been bad."

Izuku tactfully does not mention that if Saber wasn't here, the villain might not have brought his own Servant.

"They have some questions about her though, but she wouldn't leave your side at all."

Of course they do. "I guess since I'm up now, I shouldn't keep them waiting." Izuku's body was still too sluggish die to the drain and Saber picks him up, nearly cradling him to his chest.

"My apologies Master. I could not supply enough mana to use my attacks so I had to take some from you."

"That's okay, it's what I'm here for!"

Saber makes a displeased sound. "You haven't looked at my skills yet, have you?"

Izuku hadn't but the moment he learns about Galvinism he is going to have a fucking field day.

For now, though, he allows his Servant to bring him towards the other students, who are being ushered towards the exit.

They looked to be safe and healthy at least but where was AM?
