IFD2023 Rec List

for international fanworks day 2023, i decided i was going to make a #ficrecs of some of my fave fusions and crossovers over twenty years of fangirling.

unlike most of my other rec lists, these will be sorted by themes and not by rating. also, i'll note if a fic is complete or incomplete or ongoing (i.e. updated within the last year). ten recs have a ✵ which are ones i really, really, really fucking enjoy and hope you will too!

Crime Solving

two or more detectives team up for some reason to solve crimes. or commit them. mostly dcmk crossovers

• Wanderers: Aftermath and Shinigami (DCMK × RK × supernatural elements, 7k words across 2 fics, complete?, K+ rating, on FFN) - once again upset that an ip holder being a pos makes fics feel sour anyways! this is a very interesting series (there's more to it but i always recommend these parts!). takagi is related to kenshin, half the rk cast are some sort of supernatural creature/yokai, and conan just... attracts death lmao
• too many questions in my head (DCMK × Sherlock, 103k words, ongoing, T rating) - conan wakes up on sherlock's couch with 0 idea how he got to London but proceeds to be a corpse magnet anyways. also includes alex rider cameos but i don't recognize them since i never read the books lmao
• Kira Vs. The Black Organisation (DCMK × DN, 146k over 2 fics, incomplete, T rating) - Conan is put between a rock and a hard place while trying to reform mass murderer Yagami Light
• ✵ Burning Rubber (OP × NCIS, 228k words over 3 fics, incomplete, T rating) - a case gets weird when supernatural abilities come into play. main fic is done, both the sidefics (which crosses over characters from one fandom into the other instead of the fusion in burning rubber) are incomplete.
• Arsène "Shinichi" Lupin the Fourth (DCMK × LIII, 34k words over 2 fics, complete, T rating) - Shinichi is raised by Lupin and the gang.
• A New Player (DCMK × Sherlock, 11k words, incomplete, T rating, on FFN) - conan ends up as a hostage.
• Coincidentally Fortunate Events (BH6 × DCMK, 44k words, incomplete, T rating, on FFN) - kaito and conan get transported into the bh6 verse mid heist
• As Time Diverges: The Mitakihara Case (DN × PMMM, 45k words, complete, T rating, on FFN) - has a sequel as well (located here). l finds himself dealing with magical girls.
• Casework (DCMK × House MD, 37k words, complete, T rating, on FFN) - a very... different case for house and friends
• Cousins (Lilo & Stitch × MCU, 2k words, complete, T rating, on FFN) - cobra bubbles and nick fury are cousins. that's it.

• Professor Uzumaki (HP × Naruto, 2k words, complete, K+ rating, on FFN) - wherein naruto just wants to help "british sasuke" out. and he's only british sasuke because he's really bad at remembering their weird names.

• Nanoha Takamichi and the School of Witchcraft (MGLN × HP, 55k words, complete, T rating, on FFN) - nanoha and fate go to hogwarts. it has a sequel that covers year two but is incomplete.

• The Best Defense + A Good Offense (HP × YYH, 324k, incomplete, T rating, Best Defense is on AO3, A Good Offense was not migrated) - probably was once considered the yyh/hp crossover fic.

• The Jumper Chronicles (HP × Sherlock, 111k words, incomplete, T rating) - another john is remus fic, the time between the first prologue and his reappearance in book 3
• Seeing and Observing (Sherlock × HP, 16k words, incomplete, Not Rated) although it looks like the version on ffn is about 50k total (still incomplete) - sometimes a family is a boy, an ex-soldier, a dog, and a quirky detective.

• Of Eagle and Lion (HP × Warhammer, 15k words, incomplete, M rating) - what if harry was a space marine at hogwarts? and makes it a religion

• A Long Road to Destiny (FF7 × FF10, 130k words, complete, T rating) - ff7 characters in the ff10 universe
• Azure Sword Burning Trail (SVSSS/PIDW × TGCF, 16k words over 2 fics, ongoing, T rating) - okay so the concept of ghost!LQG deciding to become a fucking supreme to save SQQ is great and i love it and just. check it out!
• It's All in the Mind (MCU × X-Men movie verse, 332k words over 14 fics, incomplete, T rating) - Tony Stark is a mutant. And it kind of rolls from there.
• No Prayers for the Gods (SVSSS/PIDW × TGCF, 38k words over 8 fics, complete, T rating) - wherein LQG is a god and SJ happens to be a believer... sort of. set somewhere in TGCF canon.
• Digimon: Chaotic Evolutions (Digimon Frontier × Digimon 02, 223k words, incomplete, M rating) - i love koukou and seeing them interact with my faves of 02 just made me <3
